Building Hope Continues Partnership with Richard Wright PCS to Advance Phase II Campus Improvements

Building Hope Real Estate is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with Richard Wright Public Charter School for Journalism and Media Arts in Washington, D.C., serving as Project Manager for Phase II of the school's facility improvements. The project represents another chapter in a relationship that has spanned the school's growth from its early years to becoming one of the District's most distinctive educational institutions.

Richard Wright was one of the inaugural recipients of Building Hope's IMPACT Awards, recognized for its innovative approach to education and unwavering commitment to student success. Founded by Dr. Marco Clark, the school was created with a bold vision: to equip traditionally underserved students with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to become the next generation of storytellers, creators, and changemakers.

Today, Richard Wright has earned a reputation for blending rigorous academics with hands-on experiences in journalism, media arts, film, graphic design, music production, dance, and creative expression. The school has maintained graduation rates exceeding 90 percent and boasts a remarkable record of 100 percent of graduates earning acceptance to colleges and universities, reflecting its strong college-preparatory culture.

Building Hope has been a partner in that journey from the beginning. The organization previously helped Richard Wright secure temporary space, identify and finance its permanent home, and transform a six-story office building in Southwest Washington, D.C., into a state-of-the-art educational facility. Today, that LEED-certified campus features specialized spaces including radio studios, dance studios, a green-screen filming room, graphic design labs, and a media library that support the school's unique mission.

Phase II builds on that foundation. Through this latest engagement, Building Hope Real Estate will oversee renovations designed to accommodate approximately 200 additional students while creating new performance and creative spaces that further enhance opportunities for student learning and artistic expression. The improvements will allow the school to expand access to its innovative educational model while ensuring students have environments specifically designed to support collaboration, creativity, and experiential learning.

As Project Manager, Building Hope Real Estate will guide the project from planning through delivery, coordinating design teams, contractors, budgets, and schedules so that school leadership can remain focused on what they do best: preparing students for success in college, careers, and civic life.

Building Hope is honored to continue supporting Richard Wright Public Charter School as it enters this next phase of growth. Together, this partnership reflects a shared belief that students thrive when they have access not only to exceptional educators and innovative programs, but also to facilities that inspire them to think boldly, create fearlessly, and shape the stories of tomorrow.
