Building Hope Supports Dogwood Charter School's Growth in Pennsylvania

Building Hope is proud to support Dogwood Charter School in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, with a $350,000 revolving line of credit that will support expenses associated with their U.S. DOE Charter Schools Program grant, helping Dogwood put those resources to work for students and families.

Dogwood's story began in 2019, when a group of experienced educators and parents came together around a vision for a different kind of public school. Inspired by the Charlotte Mason educational philosophy, the founders sought to create a holistic, hands-on learning environment for children, including students who may not thrive in more traditional educational settings. That vision ultimately grew into Dogwood Charter School and a new public education option for families in the Pittsburgh region.

Today, Dogwood offers a distinctive approach centered on curiosity, relationships, and educating the whole child. Students learn through rich narrative texts, hands-on experiences, field studies, discussion, time outdoors, and real-world problem solving. Its broad curriculum incorporates traditional academic subjects alongside visual arts, music, Spanish, physical education, STEM, and other opportunities intended to encourage students to explore their interests and develop a lifelong love of learning.

The investment also supports Dogwood's long-term growth. The school plans to add a grade level each year, expanding its reach to serve students beyond its current elementary and middle school grades. Its longer-term vision includes growing into a K through 12 program, introducing a comprehensive STEAM curriculum, pursuing accreditation through the Charlotte Mason Institute, and eventually developing a permanent campus designed to support its educational model. The school's current admissions information confirms its plans to continue adding grade levels annually.

Building Hope's partnership with Dogwood demonstrates how the right financing can help charter school leaders turn available resources into immediate opportunities for students. By bridging the timing between eligible expenses and grant reimbursements, Building Hope is helping Dogwood focus its resources where they matter most while continuing to build toward its long-term vision.

Building Hope is proud to support Dogwood Charter School as it expands educational choice for families in the Pittsburgh region and creates an engaging learning environment where students can explore, grow, and thrive.
