Building Hope Supports Launch of Northwest Georgia Charter Academy

Building Hope is proud to support the launch of Northwest Georgia Charter Academy, a new public charter school in Cave Spring, Georgia, through a $300,000 revolving line of credit that will help the school access critical grant resources as it prepares to welcome its first students.

Northwest Georgia Charter Academy represents an important milestone for families across Northwest Georgia. The school is the first charter school in the region and grew from a community-led effort. After several years of planning and advocacy by local leaders and families, the school was authorized by the State Charter Schools Commission of Georgia to serve students from Floyd County, Polk County, and Rome City Schools.

Opening in fall 2026, Northwest Georgia Charter Academy will initially serve students in grades K through 5 and grow into a full K through 12 school.

Building Hope's financing will help the school maximize their U.S. DOE Charter Schools Program grant supporting the Georgia Strategic Charter School Growth Initiative. Because portions of the grant operate on a reimbursement basis, schools must often spend funds before receiving reimbursement. Building Hope's revolving line of credit helps bridge that timing gap, giving Northwest Georgia Charter Academy access to the resources it needs as it establishes operations and prepares for students.

The school's educational model is built around hands-on, project-based learning that connects classroom instruction to real-world experiences. Through the EL Education model, students will engage in interdisciplinary projects, service learning, and community-based experiences designed to strengthen academic knowledge while developing character, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Northwest Georgia Charter Academy also plans to place a strong emphasis on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and civic responsibility, helping students understand how their education connects to future careers and the communities in which they live. Partnerships with local businesses, universities, mentors, and community organizations are intended to bring those lessons beyond the classroom and give students opportunities to apply what they learn.

The school is led by Superintendent and Principal Dr. Dawn Williams, an educator and administrator with approximately three decades of experience in K through 12 education. Its founding team is deeply connected to the Cave Spring community, reflecting the local effort that helped bring the school from an idea to an authorized public charter school.

For Building Hope, the partnership demonstrates how flexible financing can help new charter schools overcome challenges that arise even after critical grant funding has been secured. By providing access to capital while reimbursements are processed, Building Hope helps school leaders keep projects moving and remain focused on preparing high-quality educational programs for students.
