Building Hope Real Estate (BHRE) is proud to partner with JS Clark Leadership Academy (JSCLA) to develop a state-of-the-art, 52,400-square-foot middle and high school facility in Opelousas, Louisiana. This transformative project will expand JSCLA’s capacity to serve 750 students, providing a modern, dynamic learning environment that fosters academic excellence and student development.
The new single-story campus is designed to inspire success and growth for both students and staff. It will feature an administration corridor, 16 classrooms, two vocational training rooms, a spacious science lab, an indoor/outdoor art area, a band room, and a large commons/dining room. Additional amenities include a full-service commercial kitchen, a basketball gym with arena-style lighting for dual volleyball games, an athletic multi-purpose room, weight and locker rooms, and a regulation-size football practice field. The project also includes critical site work such as a new sewage lift station, a deceleration lane, drive lanes, a bus loop, pavement, equestrian-style fencing, a detention pond, and various hardscape and softscape features.
Since its founding in 2012, JS Clark Leadership Academy has been committed to delivering high-quality education to underserved students. Currently, its K-8 students learn in an aging facility, while high school students attend classes at South Louisiana Community College through a Dual Enrollment program. To establish a permanent home for its expanding student body, JSCLA recently acquired a 72-acre property and partnered with BHRE to bring its vision to life.

After exploring traditional financing options such as bonds and loans without success, JSCLA worked with BHRE to structure a long-term ground lease agreement, ensuring financial stability while making the new facility a reality. BHRE is investing up to $4 million to acquire the land and fund construction, reinforcing its commitment to empowering charter schools with innovative real estate solutions. The facility is set for completion by June 2026, with JSCLA leasing the space for two to three years before transitioning to permanent financing.
Beyond expanding educational opportunities, this 5th–12th grade school represents a long-term investment in the Opelousas community. By providing a technology-rich, project-based learning environment, it will support student success while strengthening the future of the region.
