For over two decades, Building Hope has been helping public charter school leaders create high-quality educational opportunities for students around the country. By leveraging our team’s extensive experience in finance, real estate and charter school operations, and working with impact-minded investors, we have had the privilege of supporting schools with the resources and services needed to build and expand high-quality, innovative charter schools that transform the lives of students and families.
In Florida, we have been honored to work with state and charter school leaders for over a decade to strengthen the charter school community and expand school choice opportunities for families in the Sunshine State. Since 2012, Building Hope’s Charter School Unit – through a partnership with the Florida Department of Education – has worked hand-in-hand with hundreds of charter school operators throughout the state, providing technical assistance, professional development, and a range of services, like policy development and financial guidance, to help navigate the challenges that come with launching a new charter school.
The demand for charter schools continues to grow in Florida, with more and more families choosing this option for their children. To meet this increasing need and further advance educational outcomes, the Building Hope’s Charter Support Unit (CSU) has merged with the Florida Charter Institute (FCI) and will now be called FCI Support. This integration expands available resources and will strengthen support for the charter school community statewide.
Established by Florida Statute in 2022 and housed at Miami Dade College, FCI serves as Florida’s leading hub for innovation in education focused on building on the success of charter schools and helping families access exceptional learning opportunities. By collaborating closely with the Florida Department of Education and local and national charter organizations, FCI sets best practices and provides essential services to schools, authorizers and those looking to become authorizers.
Building Hope is excited about the next chapter of our work in Florida, supporting charter operators and families to create high-quality educational opportunities for students in partnership with FCI and state leaders. Whether it’s financing a new construction project, providing training opportunities and access to a robust library of over 300 expert-led webinars, or securing an operational loan to cover costs while waiting for a bond, Building Hope is dedicated to designing custom solutions so that Florida’s charter school leaders can dedicate more resources where it matters the most – in the classroom and the community.
During our 20-year history, Building Hope has supported over $1 billion in charter school projects, touching the lives of nearly 200,000 children, with the belief that a facility should never be the barrier preventing a child from accessing an exceptional education.
